Ever heard of Robert Everett?

Ever heard of Robert Everett?

Nor had I until a few days ago, but then I read this article by the BBC and Now I LOVE the guy!

He was a Welsh nonconformist minister who moved to America in 1823 to serve the Welsh speaking community there. However, it turns out that he was also a passionate abolitionist who preached against slavery and published articles to rally others to the cause. He was even actively involved in helping slaves to escape to freedom. Such was his impact he is set to be inducted into the American National Abolition Hall of Fame.

I encourage you to read the article for yourself, but here are 2 stand-out lines:

"He probably did more than anybody else to radicalise Welsh-speaking Americans and enlist them in the anti-slavery movement,"

“his radicalism was an intrinsic part of how he defined non-conformist religion.”

May God raise up more men and women with such radical, courageous faith for such a time as this!
