Sex trafficking - the deceiving or forcing of women, men and even children, into prostitution or sexual servitude - is one of the most sickening forms of modern slavery.
Victims are trafficked internationally from all over the world, from places such as Africa, South East Asia, Latin America and eastern Europe. Alarmingly, however, the trafficking of British nationals by British nationals for the purpose of sexual exploitation is also taking place within our own borders.
The bait on the sex traffickers hook may be the false offer of work in another country, or the smooth words of a manipulative ‘lover’. Sometimes traffickers will demand sexual services as a means of paying off debt. Others quite simply use intimidation and the threat of violence. It is a truly evil industry and not all victims get out.
